A couple of days back we reported on efforts by ultra-Orthodox Jewish groups in Israel to have risque jeans ads featuring model Bar Refaeli banned due to immodesty issues.
Although pretty tame by even prissy American standards, the ads — featuring Refaeli and her hunky hirsute male counterpart shilling for Fox Jeans — caused an uproar due to her topless torso!
Actually, Refaeli was wearing a sheet — her male mannequin was the one showing some skin.
Anyway, religious types in the Tel Aviv region were not pleased with the posters, threatened to boycott Fox and have apparently emerged triumphant.
Over the past few days, the initial ads were replaced with the posters above — after Fox realized it could not afford to tussle with its religious consumer base who were preparing to “go to war for its right to live according to its beliefs.”
Harsh!
Anyway, motorists on Tel Aviv-area highways can now rest assured that they will not have to be bombarded with Refaeli’s blanketed boobs.
We suspect, however, there are thousands of randy commuters who are mourning this new development even as we type.
