Iranian police have set their sites on a new target of moral impurity — risque mannequins.
Indeed, yesterday authorities began to warn shop-keepers that punishment looms if they display mannequins without hijabs (traditional hair coverings) or showing bodily curves.
And that’s just the start of it!
Shops where men are selling women’s underwear or neck-ties or bow-ties are out in the open will also be busted!
Typically, religious/moral authorities crack down on skimpy shop displays during the hot Iranian summer, and then reduce the pressure once colder weather sets in.
But this year — and last — they continued their enforcement throughout the winter and even sought out men with “spiky” Western hair-dos and ladies sporting tight trousers.
Folks violating dress codes are usually cautioned on a first offense and occasionally pass through a quick visit to the local police station. But they can also be detained for far longer — and taken to court and required to have “guidance classes” after repeat offenses.
