We are totally loving “Sinead’s Hand” — a short clip made by MarriagEquality — to promote the legalization of same-sex marriage in Ireland.
The clip, which was recently-released as a viral-marketing initiative, is witty, ironic, heart-warming, clever and — most crucially — smart!
It follows a hopeful groom-to-be as he asks his entire town for permission to marry his beloved Sinead. We never actually see him wed Sinead. But the idea is that he may never either as he is far too busy seeking approval from “society” for the desired nuptials.
Whatever the viewer’s own personal take on the same-sex marriage debate, the metaphor-rich clip causes you to think humanely and compassionately about the issues.
Most importantly, the Sinead’s Hand is anchored squarely around love – which is one human condition we can all support.
