What with the economy and all, going “green” has never been more important.
Why not save the planet while trying to save some extra cash — ya know!
Which is why we salute the folks over at the newly-launched Sex Toy Recycling Program — America’s first-ever service that allows sex toy fans to ensure their pleasure-instruments find eco-friendly use after that final climax.
The Program was actually started late last year by sex-toy manufacturer Dreamscapes, but more recently received that must-have “green” certification from the all-important Institute for Green Business. The firm helps companies of all size formally go eco!
Dreamscapes decided it was time the adult toy industry “reduced their carbon footprint” and set up the green-scheme to aid in this noble-yet-naughty effort.
The program itself is pretty straight-forward: Dreamscapes asks participants to kindly send their used or broken vibrators, anal plugs, dildos or any other sex toy to their Florida HQ. Used batteries are more than welcome — though the company does request that everything is washed before packing.
Once safely at Dreamscapes, the toys are dismantled and pieces are separated according to material — silicone, plastic, rubbers, metals — and then either recycled or eco-disposed. Every material finds a home!
Every recycler gets a $10 gift certificate and it’s all one more step towards literally ensuring the vitality of our sexual world.
The $10 coupon will arrive in the form of an email — just one extra effort Dreamscapes says it’s taking to reduce waste.
Dreamscapes also includes a helpful “10 Way to go Green” component on its Recycling Program site — which suggests ways to have more eco-intercourse, such as avoiding lengthy sexy showers, trading the mile-high club for train sex (less fuel) and, naturally, buying green sex toys. Best of all, the tip sheet — like the program — is open to all: Gays, Straight, Bi, Whatever! (though perhaps not to THESE folks)
Dreamscapes’ recycling program comes two years after a British adult toy site launched a similar initiative following the introduction of European Union laws requiring the recycling of all electronic devices.
Nice to see we Yanks don’t need the government to encourage our sex toy re-use!
