Although this has cheese written all over it, this new series of Michael Jackson action figures could very well be a big seller — at least in Asia.
Inspired by Jackson’s “Thriller” video, the toys are 1/16th the size of Jackson himself and will make their debut in December by top-end toy-maker Hot Toys in Japan.
Clearly envisioned as a collector’s item, the MJ figures are not cheap — with a launch price of ¥24,000 each (about $255.00).
If you like their look, Hot Toys (which is actually based in Hong Kong) manufactures all kinds of fancy action figures — usually based on films and comic books such as Batman, Alien and Pirates of the Caribbean.
While the MJ toys are certainly well-designed — and are definitely moon-walk ready — they still seem an odd fit for kid’s play.
