We at Transracial wholeheartedly admit our knowledge of the Rap/Hip-Hop world is lacking — despite living above 110th Street.
But we do know there’s been endless rumours about the mysterious “Gay Rapper” (or rappers) – a phantom, urban legend endlessly making its way round the music-sphere.
So it was interesting to watch this video of rap/reggeaton star Noriega talk about the presence of homos in hip-hop.
The NYC native made it clear “that the Gay community is here” in hip-hop — not that there is anything wrong with it.
And much like Gay Hollywood, Noriega says Gay hip-hoppers keep in the closet in order to…well…get paid!
Despite confirming he’s worked with Gay rappers, Noriega insists that he personally likes “messing with bitches” — though he personally has no problems with gay guys.
Noriega does suggest it’s only a matter of time before Gay hip-hoppers come out of the closet. And when they do, it won’t be that much of a big deal.
“People will still go to his parties, they’ll still buy his belts, still buy his sneakers and purses — everyone will say ‘I knew that’,” Noriega says.
A rapper who has parties and designs clothes and sneakers — sounds like puffed-up charges to us.
PS: Don’t be lazy and watch the entire video — the good stuff is toward the end.
