HIS OWN PRIVATE IDAHO: Bruce Willis Wants to Build Snow-Country Airport

Action-star and recently remarried right-winger Bruce Willis is coming under fire for plans to build his own airport — yes airport — near his Hailey, Idaho retreat (above).

Indeed, this week the FAA will hold hearings as it begins the approval process for Willis to build a planned private airport with a hefty 8,000-foot runway.

It’s the same length as the town’s existing airport — whose operators worry Willis is trying to put them out of business.

The fears are not so far-fetched: The new airport would serve Willis’ Soldier Mountain ski resort, which he hopes will soon compete with the better-known Sun Valley ski resort, 12 miles north of Hailey.

Ambitious!

Those hearings will be open to the public — which we suspect won’t be particularly welcoming!

The private airport news is not entirely unexpected: Three years ago Willis — who owns a Gulfstream — made it clear he was exploring this option after his offer to donate his own land for a new municipal airport was negged by local officials.

Now it appears as if Willis is taking this plan all the way to the FAA!
