Reports are now emerging from Colombia that one of Pablo Escobar’s beloved pet hippos has been shot dead by hunters near a river in the country’s Antioquia province.
The 1.5 ton male was one of 22 hippos Escobar kept at his farm, Napoles, including the cutie above.
Perhaps taking inspiration from their long-deceased daddy — killed by police in 1993 – three members of hippo tribe escaped from the farm two years ago and have been missing ever since.
Since then, the three bandits have been tearing up local crops and messing with local livestock, prompting Colombian authorities to order them shot-and-killed.

But not before the three-some produced at least one wild hippo baby.

Hopefully the remaining wild pair will fare better than both Escobar — and their recently murdered hippo mate — and stay alive on the run.
