VIBE´S DEMISE: Blame the White Guys

It’s barely been a day since the announcement of Vibe Magazine’s closing and already the vitriol is beginning to flow.
And it’s got color written all over it.
According to insiders, a culture/color clash bears much of the responsibility for Vibe’s death as “dumb white folks ran the magazine into the ground.”
Essentially, white corporate types brought in by Vibe’s new owners failed to connect with the needs and reality of the black-themed publication long-owned by uber-brother Quincy Jones, who folks say may try to revive Vibe.
Insiders say it wasn’t the economy that killed Vibe, but simply lack of vision — specifically a vision that jived with Vibe’s urban readership.
