PHILLY TRANNY-DRAMA: No Passing on Local Transit

44c85302172c1-59-1

Members of Philadelphia’s transgender community are up in arms with the City’s public transport authority — SEPTA — over a small, but meaningful, regulation now in place.

It appears as if folks wishing purchase monthly discount passes must place either an “M” or “F” sticker on its back to indicated their gender.

Easy enough — unless your a trans-person trying to get cheap Philly transport.

So Philly transgender types have come together to form RAGE — Rider Against Gender Exclusion — to demand an end to harassment by public transport drivers and SEPTA’s insistence that gender stickers be placed of discount passes.

SEPTA says the stickers are needed to ensure folks are sharing discount passes.  RAGE says a less discriminatory alternative must be found.

Hearing are currently taking place to hopefully get transfolk back on the bus!
