Not yet 30, Democrat Anthony Woods is running for Congress in California’s 10th Congressional District.
Which is cool.
What’s really cool is that Sgt. Woods is a Gay, Black, Iraq War-vet and West Point/Harvard Kennedy School alum who personally challenged the bogosity of our military’s “don’t ask/don’t tell” policies by coming-out after two tours of Iraq duty and a Bronze metal.
Although honorably discharged, Woods was forced to repay the $35,000 scholarship he was awarded for his Harvard studies.
Now Woods wants to head for Washington and repealing Don’t Ask/Don’t Tell will be a central debate of the campaign.
The election –which is still awaiting a vote date — is being held to replace Bay Area Rep. Ellen Tauscher, who is leaving her East Bay seat to join the Obama administration.
Good luck soldier!
Ok, so Rep. Tauscher serves in the US Congress so I suspect Mr. Woods is running for the US Congress as well and, should he win, be headed to DC, as opposed to Sacramento’s State Capitol Bldg.
Regardless, a great story and I hope Mr. Woods gets the opportunity to serve in Congress.
error corrected even as i type
And the coincidence that he’s phyne doesn’t hurt!
